Iโ€™ve been lucky to train alongside these incredible coffee professionals these past few years. And while it might look like we won our trophies one after another, Iโ€™ve seen first-hand the hard work, sacrifices, and obsession behind each one. One tried for almost 10 years before finally reaching the worlds again โ€” showing relentless tenacity despite setbacks. Another balanced managing a big team while supporting a partnerโ€™s world championship campaign, just weeks before competing themselves. A couple of them trained under the weight of their seniorsโ€™ legacies and expectations, sleeping on training room floors to squeeze out every extra minute. And still, they exceeded what was expected of them. With the WCC 2025 season wrapping up next month, Iโ€™m sharing this not to show off โ€” but to spark a fire. Success may look shiny, but itโ€™s built on unseen struggle: failed run-throughs, tears on the morning of finals, missed flights while sourcing ingredients, the guilt of saying no to family moments, or even going straight from the airport after a win to help a teammate prepare. The Kid did it! @georgiuus is the 2025 World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion! ๐Ÿ† What an unbelievable achievementโ€”weโ€™re all so proud and so happy for him. Odi came to me almost five years ago, answering a job ad we posted at @ssgcoffeecompany for an Anything Coffee Related role. We were still very new back then, and I needed someone versatile to help withโ€ฆ well, anything coffee-related. What stood out about him was his willingness to learn, absorb, and push himself to grow. When he started, he barely spoke or understood English. He didnโ€™t know how to build flavour combinations. He was young, raw, and inexperienced. But in our team, you either sink or swim. And boyโ€”did he swim. He worked hard, picked up English quickly, and found a love for crafting creative recipes. Honestly, many of my own drinks started as ideas we brainstormed together. He first tried competing in Brewers Cup, but things never quite clickedโ€”even after a few attempts. Thankfully, he found his true calling: Coffee in Good Spirits. And he only went and won itโ€ฆ on his first try. ๐Ÿคฃ Odi is proof that you can outwork talent and privilegeโ€”if you want it badly enough.
